Welcome to our Respite & Training Centre

Kernow Positive Support (KPS) is a registered charity No. 1104947. We were founded in 2004. KPS was established to effect, and develop HIV support services within the county of Cornwall after the dissolution of the Bethany Trust (Bodmin), and the closure of the Cornwall AIDS Council in 2003. We have provided a well respected and excellent local service provision since our foundation. This year we celebrate our 7th Anniversary, and April 2011 sees the opening of our new and exciting respite facility; KPS Trebullom - a National Residential Retreat, Respite, Education and Training Centre, including a temporary accommodation solution for those within the Southwest peninsula with housing related needs (see Crisis Support Link above).

This will be the first facility of its kind in the UK. Through our work with people with HIV we have recognised a need not only for people to have the opportunity to come to terms with this debilitating illness by attending a respite and retreat centre, there is also a need to assist in building futures for our guests and improve HIV awareness through training opportunities to the public and professionals alike.

Services Inclusive

• Fully appointed bedroom (twin/double) with a level access shower en-suite facility.

• 22" TV/DVD combination and coffee/tea making facilities within the bedroom.

• A small security safe within the bedroom for personal belongings. Including; A small fridge for medications.

• Breakfast, lunch and evening meal including; refreshments throughout the day. lunch and evening meal are optional extras for Bed & breakfast guest(s) - Prices on application.

• Onsite qualified and professional counselling services and complementary therapies. Respite, Retreat & Summer Camps only. Optional extra for Residential Training and Bed & Breakfast guest(s) - Prices on application.

• Access to the KPS Resources Library. Including; A wide range of reference books, computers and printing facilities – with WiFi connection for a guests own laptop if required.

• Access to our extensive DVD library for your entertainment needs.

• Organised outings (daily) to many of the attractions Cornwall has to offer - subject to available volunteers. Respite, Retreat, Summer Camp guest(s) only.

• Onsite advice, advocacy and support from our welfare rights and benefits advisor(s). Respite, Retreat, Summer Camp and Bed & Breakfast guest(s) only.

• Level Access En-suites can be tailored to suit individual needs with adaptations if you have stricted or limited mobility.

• Cots and additional beds can be provided whereby a child and/or children are sharing a bedroom with parent(s)/guardian(s). Toys and games are also available.

Other Services Offered

You will be staying in 5 star style luxury. KPS Trebullom provides an opportunity for respite and retreat. The recently refurbished 18th Century farmhouse is set in 11 acres of countryside and farmland in a rustic and beautiful part of north Cornwall.

Whether you are wanting restful and quiet seclusion, or to take part in the variety of opportunities on offer in this tranquil setting your stay will be catered for.

KPS Trebullom offers day trips to many of the attractions Cornwall has to offer. Also we offer onsite counselling and a range of recognised complementary therapies carried out by skilled and registered professionals.

KPS offers effective liaison with your local Department of Adult Social Care, Children's Services, Health Services and other statutory and voluntary organisations that may be a source of referrals or provide other services to service users.

Welfare Rights Advice

Advice, advocacy and support with DWP, Housing Benefits, Income Support and JSA, DLA, and related premiums.

Assisting people to access Social Fund and other grants and loans, affordable furniture and the provision of adequate support in resettlement.

Building Futures Projects -

Training & Skills Opportunities

KPS Trebullom is able to offer short training and skills opportunities. We have access to facilitors and workshops covering; Woodworking, Pottery and Weaving and also have access to a fully working Bakery and Dairy within the the grounds of Trebullom Farm.

Support with money advice and debt management assistance. Support and assistance in negotiating with utility suppliers, landlords and private companies to manage personal debts

Trebullom Roadshow

Currently, we are in the process of researching and planning a KPS Trebullom Roadshow to maximize the ongoing promotion of our venue and its facilities.

Within the next few months one or two volunteers from KPS will be travelling the country, at their own expense, to give voluntary and statutory agencies a short presentation and insight to what is available at our new centre.

A representative from KPS will be telephoning you to ask - "Would your organisation be happy to meet us?"

We feel that a personal touch will give you a better view on what is on offer.
