housing advice
Kerrier District Council transferred its Council Housing to Coastline Housing (Ferris House Dolcoath Avenue Camborne TR14 8SD - Tel: 08452 700720) previously known as Kerrier Homes Trust, a Housing Association, in 1998. Whilst Kerrier has no longer any housing stock, we still retain some key housing services: Housing Strategy The Council produces an annual housing strategy which gives the strategic steer for our work. Housing Enabling The Council works in partnership with Housing Associations to develop new social housing for rent in Kerrier. We invest significant capital funds into new housing. In addition, we seek to find other solutions to housing need by working on initiatives such as our Empty Property Strategy, where we aim to bring unused properties back into use. Homelessness The Council has a statutory duty to provide advice and assistance for homeless people. Our emphasis is the prevention of homelessness and we have a team of Housing Options staff who will work with people either to stay in their own properties or to find alternative housing solutions for them. Housing Advice We have a specialist housing advice service who can give advice on a wide range of housing related issues, such as finding accommodation in the private rented sector, the rights of private tenants and landlords, repairs in the private rented sector, succession rights, mortgage or rent arrears and many other issues. Housing Register The Council has a housing register of people seeking social rented housing in Kerrier. Whilst the Council has no homes to rent itself, we have nomination rights with local housing associations which enables us to refer people from our register to their properties. We can arrange home visits for those who are elderly or disabled and need advice: if you would like us to visit you.
