eddystone trust

Here we take look at The Eddystone Trust. A well established HIV support charity based in Plymouth that has been providing an important service provision for Devon and North Cornwall area for several years, providing Free and Confidential Information & Support on HIV, Safer Sex and Hepatitis C.

The Eddystone Trust is an independent agency, providing information and support for anyone concerned about HIV or Hepatitis C (HCV) in Plymouth, Torbay, and south and west Devon. They  therefore work with the public at large, specific groups (e.g. gay men) and with people working in the health and community sectors.

Services vary according to the issue and to the geographical area. i.e. We are not funded to provide all the same services in each part of south and west Devon, while some work goes beyond that area. Broadly, the Eddystone Trust's work divides into 4 types:

  • Targeted HIV Prevention (especially gay men's health work);
  • Community HIV Prevention (including campaigns and training);
  • Hepatitis C (information and support to individuals and workers);

Community Prevention.

Newsletter , Stalls and displays . Including training , Safer Sex Products , Leaflets / flyers . The Eddystone Trust also has World AIDS Week , National Condom Week initiatives along with many other campaigns and events.

HIV/HCV Support Services.

Individual Info & Support , Advocacy along with Open Access drop-in. The Eddystone Trust also supplies a telephone helpline, Welfare Rights advice, Counselling and Mutual Support .

Targeted HIV Prevention Services.

Free condoms (via venues) and recently a post-direct scheme. Workshops/groups along with Individual Info/Support and Safer Sex Events.

Hepatitis C Conference.

Each year Eddystone hosts a south west HCV Conference. This is aimed at people working in fields where they come into regular contact with people affected by HCV, with intravenous drug users (past or present) or with Health & Safety matters.
