Service User Group Cornwall's forum for service users

Here we take look at the continuing National Health Service initiative to give those living with HIV within Cornwall, and attending the G.U.M Clinic at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, a forum to enable them to meet other people living with the disease in peer support in a safe and confidential setting, and to discuss ways forward in preventing isolation and establishing other avenues of support. The forum also gives those living with HIV, a regular opportunity to meet voluntary and statutory agencies who provide vital support services such as:

Agencies:

  • Cornwall Primary Care Trust - HIV Commissioner

  • Cornwall Social Services representatives

  • Cornwall County Council representatives

  • Royal Cornwall Hospital G.U.M representatives

  • Kernow Positive Support representatives

  • Positive Action South West (Exeter)

The Service User Group hopes to promote multi-agency partnership working towards effective, accessible and inclusive sexual health service provision - appropriate to individual, agency and the public's needs. this support group also now  works in close association with the established KPS Peer Support Groups. It will also hope to promote and provides appropriate and accessible training for professionals (voluntary and statutory) working within sexual health or associated fields in South and West Devon. For information and dates on the next meeting, this is listed in the KPS STOP PRESS section by clicking here. If you would like further information on the Service User Group contact:
