art therapy

What is it?

Art Therapy encourages and allows the expression of thoughts, feelings and memories through the exploration of your own creativity. Using Art as a means of expression is not only enjoyable and relaxing but works on a subtle level enabling you to come to terms with difficult areas of your life, which might otherwise be too difficult or painful to explore.

Who it can help?

Most people can benefit from Art Therapy. The ability to draw and paint well is not necessary; only an openness and willingness to explore the art mediums. Art Therapy is particularly beneficial for those people who find it difficult to talk about, or express their feelings.

What happens in a session?

A session would normally last an hour and a wide range of art mediums are made available. Sessions are client led which means you may use the art materials to which you feel drawn. The therapist is there to act as a mirror for whatever you do and say as a means of helping you to make things clearer for yourself.
